Agatep Director of Planning City of Carlsbad 1200 Elm Avenue Carlsbad, California 92008 Dear Mr. Agatep: • I have been asked to comment on the following maps - CT 73-25, CT 73.-19- SP-119 .- CT 73-20 relative to the impact that the proposed developments may have on the San Dieguito Union High School District. As has been explained by this office before, school facilities of the San Dieguito High School District are operating on an extended day basis with double sessions being a distinct possibility sometime during the next school year. The district is currently building a second high school, however, current information would indicate that the present rate of building in the district will make even these facilities overcrowded as early as the fall of 1975. At present there is no high school site in the portion of the San Dieguito Union High School District that is located within the boundaries of the city limits of Carlsbad. A study is currently underway to determine the number and location of additional sites to accommodate the anticipated influx of new students from housing developments currently under construction or proposed. The absence of sites or written agreements by which to acquire them in the Carlsbad area compels us to oppose any additional dwelling units within that area of our district that is within the city limits of Carlsbad. I would like to have the opportunity to present additional information to the city of Carlsbad should this matter come before them for their consideration. as to hearing dates by mailing copies of the Planning Commission and City Council agendas to this office for perusal.
