Statem'ent of the Matter
In the preparation of the resolution calling the General Municipal Election
the compensation of the persons named as election officers was omitted
as well as the rental fee for the polling places and compensation of
Custodian of a building, when required. It is necessary that the Council
establish, the fees. The fees were checked with Oceanside and Vista, and
the tees recommended in the attached resolution are in keeping with theTri-city area cities.
Pursuant- to Section 22932.5 of the Elections Code, the City Council has the
?£™°n of °rderin9 tne City Clerk to canvass the ballots pri'or. to March 12,
1974, rather than the City Council performing this function at the Council
meeting. If you choose to have the Clerk canvass the ballots,'.a resolution
is attached for your consideration.

RESOLUTION NO. 3365
P A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING RESOLUTION
3 NO. 3290, CALLING AND GIVING NOTICE OF THE
HOLDING OF A GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION, BY
4 ADDING THERETO SECTION 11, ESTABLISHING
COMPENSATION FOR ELECTION OFFICERS, FEE FOR
5 RENTAL OF POLLING PLACES, AND COMPENSATION
FOR CUSTODIAN OF BUILDING WHEN REQUIRED.

7 WHEREAS, On December 4, 1973, the City Council of the
8 City of Carlsbad adopted Resolution No. 3290, calling and giving
9 notice of the holding of a General Municipal Election to be held
10 in said City on Tuesday, the 5th day of March, 1974; and
11 WHEREAS, it is necessary that the compensation of the
12 persons appointed as election officers be established, as well as
13 the rental for the polling places and the compensation of the
14 custodian of a building when required.
15 NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad
16 DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DETERMINE AND ORDER that Section 11 be added,
17 which section shall read as follows:
18 "SECTION 1 1 . That the compensation of the persons named
19 as election officers is hereby fixed at the sum of Twenty-four
20 Dollars ($24.00) for each Inspector and Twenty Dollars ($20.00)
21 for each Judge and Clerk for said election. The rental for each
22 of such polling places, where a charge is made, shall be the sum
23 of Fifteen Dollars ($15.00) for said election. When required, the
24 compensation of the Custodian of a building shall be Fifteen
25 Dollars ($15.00) for said election."
26 PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a special meeting of the
27 City Council held on 27th day of February 1974> by the
28 following vote, to wit:

RESOLUTION NO. 3366
2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ORDERING THE CANVASS
31! OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD
ON THE 5TH DAY OF MARCH, 1974, TO BE MADE BY
THE CITY CLERK OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD.
WHEREAS, a regular general municipal election will be held
and conducted in the City of Carlsbad, County of San Diego, State
of California, on Tuesday, the 5th day of March, 1974, as required
by law; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of said City desires the canvass
of said election to be made by the City Clerk of said City;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD,
CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That pursuant to Section 22932.5 of the
Elections Code of the State of California, the canvass of the
regular general municipal election to be held in the City of
Carlsbad, County of San Diego, State of California, on Tuesday,
the 5th day of March, 1974, is hereby ordered to be made by the
City Clerk of the City of Carlsbad.
SECTION 2. That the City Clerk of said City shall prior
to the 12th day of March, 1974, complete the canvass of the
regular general municipal election to be held in said City on the
5th day of March, 1974, and shall certify the results to this said
City Council on the 12th day of March, 1974.
SECTION 3. That the City Clerk shall certify to the
passage and adoption of this resolution; shall enter the same in
the book of original Resolutions of said City, and shall make a
munute of the passage and adoption thereof in the records of the
proceedings of the City Council of said City, in the minutes of
the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted.
SECTION 4. That this Resolution shall take effect

immediately.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a special meeting of the
City Council held on the 27th day of February, 1974, by the
following vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilmen Dunne, McComas and Frazee.
NOES: None,
ABSENT: Councilmen Lewis and Chase.
