BACKC-ROUND: Due to the number of subdivision maps being filed, and
the resultant need to provide a logical and uniform means of estab-
lishing street names, the City Council has determined that it is in
the public interest to adopt a policy for street naming, according
to authority given in Section 34091.1 of the Government Code.
PURPOSE; To establish a policy to insure a uniform system of street
naming for subdivisions and developments in the City of Carlsbad.•
POLICY; Before approval is given to subdivision maps or developments
the City of Carlsbad requires that:
(1) All proposed street names shall conform to the
Geographical Area Classification Map (Exhibit A)
of this policy.
(2) All proposed street names shall conform to the
Authorized Street Naming List (Exhibit B) of this
policy.
(3) All proponents of Tentative Maps or Developments
shall submit a list of proposed street names for
staff review and approval so as to avoid conflicting
reasonable street names.

RESOLUTION NO. 975
A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION'OF THE
CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ESTABLISHING A
POLICY WITH REGARD TO STREET NAMES -POLICY NO. 9
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of Carlsbad
believes that it is in the public interest to provide a logical
means of establishing street names; and,
WHEREAS,good planning dictates that a program be developed
for selection of appropriate street names; and,
WHEREAS, it has been determined that the adoption of this
policy would not have a significant effect on the environment.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Planning Commission of
the City of Carlsbad that it declares that the attached is to be
the adopted policy for the selection of street names and does
recommend to the City Council that they do adopt this policy.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City
of Carlsbad Planning Commission held on the 9th day of October,
1973, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Commissioners Dominguez, Jose, Casler, Wrench,
Palmateer and Little
NOES: None
ABSENT: Commissioner Forman
