As you may know, the Board of Supervisors recently discussed priorities for acquisition of County regional parks and retained the Calavera Lake site in high priority, sixth among the 18 parks in the General Plan still to be acquired or expanded by County resources. Although we would like to be able to begin sooner, we anticipate now that acquisition of the park nucleus, the City lake holdings, can begin by mid 1976. In the meantime, we will be completing the master development plan which is now in progress, and we may be able to acquire options on the most endangered essential private parcels between now and 1976. We are highly appreciative of past cooperation in planning for the park on the part of yourself and other City officials, and regret that our resources will not permit immediate acquisition of this very desirable site. Two years, how- ever, is not a long delay considering the scope of the acquisition, and we trust that the City's positive and helpful attitude with respect to planning for the park will continue. If you or other City officials wish to discuss the possibilities for the park in greater detail, we will welcome the opportunity for a meeting at any time. F. D.
