STATE OF CALIFORNIA—RESOURCES AGENCY RONALD REAGAN, Governor DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION San Diego Coast Area • P. 0. Box 3$ Carlsbad, California 92008 July 10, 1974 Mr. Paul Bussey City Manager City of Carlsbad 1200 Ehn Street Carlsbad, California 92008 Dear Mr. Hussey: In the State Department of Parks and Recreation budget for fiscal Year 1973-74, $345,600 was included for a development project at Carlsbad State Beach. Ordinarily, the State Office of Architecture and Construction prepares the working drawing for state construction projects. Because of the heavy workload at the Office of Architec- ture and Construction, the architectural firm of Bird, Fujimoto and Fish was engaged to prepare the drawings. In this way the project at Carlsbad SB will be started somewhat earlier. The architectural firm has requested of our department a letter from the City of Carlsbad stating that the City is in agreement with the development project as shown on the enclosed prints. I realize that the deadline to be heard at the July 16, 1974 meeting of the City Council has passed. However, if you and the Council can find a few minutes to review the drawings and approve the writing of your agreement, more time can be saved in getting the project underway. If you do review this at the council meeting, I will be in the audience to answer questions. Sincerely, FRANK L. FAIRCHMD Chief Ranger
