Pieti Personnel Director \FA Statement of the Matter The Board of Library Trustees has made recommendations to change the existing Salary Schedule and Classification Plan as it pertains to library personnel. The recommendations have been reviewed. As a result of this review it was decided to deal with the salary recommendations at this time and to defer consideration of changes to the Classification Plan. The review of the Salary Schedule was based upon comparisons with City positions having similar employment standards, City positions having similar salary ranges and with similar positions in other cities throughout the County. These comparisons showed that even following recently enacted BalarT increases the following positions are considerably below those of - other agencies, are low based upon .the employment standards. Therefore, the following salary range changes are recommended. ASSISTANT CITY LIBRARIAN - from Range 36 to Range 38 AUDIO-VISUAL LIBRARIAN - from Range 29 to Range 36 CHILDRENS LIBRARIAN - from Range 32 to Range 36 SENIOR LIBRARIAN - from Range 29 to Range 36 REFERENCE LIBRARIAN - from Range 26 to Range 30 Should the City Council concur with these recommendations a resolution affecting these changes to the Salary Schedule will be returned to the City Council at its next regular meeting. Date: Concur with staff. This matter has been discussed previously with the City Council indicating the Personnel Department was involved in a review of salaries and classifications for the Library Department. schedules throughout the County, indicated a number of inequities. The five positions listed shobzld be adjusted as indicated in the Agenda Bill to make them comparable for recruitment purposes and to help improve the internal relationships within the Carlsbad Library.
