Statement of" the Matter
At the request of Mayor Frazee, the matter of developing
a Council position on the location of the San Diego
County Regional Airport is being brought to your attention.
While no staff recommendation is being made on this subject,
it may be worth commenting that the Brown Field location
which is presently being considered as the most viable
alternative of several, has the disadvantage to North
County residents in that it is the most distant. In addition
to some inconvenience to those local residents who frequently
use air travel, a more significant potential problem may be
that the distance would encourage the development of Palomar
Airport as a more active commuter port.

9-17-74 The City's CPO representative was instructed to inform CPO
that the City of Carlsbad accepts the Miramar location of
the San Diego County Regional Airport, and that it opposes
the Brown-Otay location.
