'' . ;'• After receiving directive check record of "Area Wide Security" and it's president Frederick C. GRAVES~ the following agencies were contacted: San Diego Sheriff's Office San Diego Police Department ~-Imperial County Sheriff's Office Chula Vista Police Department Oceanside Police Department Escondido P,lice Department El Cajon Police Department National City Police Department The above contacts resulted with the following information and cofl1llents: San Diego Sheriff 1 s Office: Area Wide Security was licensed by their depart- ment with offices in Chula Vi;:;ta, and Oceanside. Their 1'icense expired on 2-1~1s. Sheriff1 s-Of.f.ice' is (at this time) undergoing a civil suit pro- ceeding that has something to do with crowd cont?ol situation that involved Sheriff's deputies and Area Wide Security. One member of Area Wide Security was overheard saying "I'm going to sink those 9uys in court." (Referring •i· to Sheriff's deputies or the Sheriff's office.) Sh1::riff's office could not . forward anything in writing due to the civil suit proceedings. ~~ Diego-Police Department: Area Wide-Security has been operating in the-city ~<-. of San Diegc s.ince May 30,. 1973. San Diego's: file on this ccmpany does not · ,.\ --· · ,-.5~ ~~ any adverse c0t1111ents. EfCajon, Pol ice Departlllent: Area Wide Security v,as issued a license by their , ~, city on May 29, 1973. .They· have no derrogatory information an· same either · t\;:: before or since that date.. . · · • !,~ • ., .. • National City·Police Department:· "As far-as I know, they are properly licensed •· by the state.11 11 We have had no complaints on them, and for your-information ~ the organization has b!!n used by Hazard Contruction for security-of · ' construction equipment at freeway construction sites." They are also licensed by the ·. tco.:rraNr3\ State of California as a Private Patrol Agency. During 1974 Escondido Police , ~ c.. 1 Department had problems with one employee of Area Wide Security. The company : ~-:~~~ terminated his employment immediately and the department had no problems since. · ~-Chula Vista Polica Department: Verbal corrment by Chief WINTERS \'/as, 11 They dre less ·-than professional.11 (Nothing in writing) Department of Consumer Affairs Division of Investigation had nothing derrogatory on Area Wide Security.
