Statement of tha natter
The cities of Oceanside, -Vista and Carlsbad are desirous of combining
their individual annual Clean-up weeks into one Spring 'Clean -Up Week
from March 24 through March 28th. The combined effort will assist each
city by allowing the use of combined news coverage and eliminating
different dates, which has caused confusion in past years.
The objective of the program is to provide property owners the opportunity
to dispose of large unwanted items not normally removed by the Sanitation
Company serving the area. The result of the Clean-up Week will be
elimination of health and fire hazards, abatement of unsightly nuisances
and improvements in the aesthetic appearance of the City.
The week will officially be referred to by each of the three cities as
"JOLLY GREEN°CLEAN-UP WEEK.

It is recommended that the Mayor be authorized to proclaim the week of
March 24-28 as "JOLLY GREEN"CLEAN-UP WEEK and that City forces oe authorized
to participate in the effort.

SCHEDULE FOR 1975
March 3, 1975 Street Superintendent:
Communicate with County of San Diego
(Department of Sanitation and Flood
Control) regarding free passes for
dumping all items collected by the -City
Forces and McDougal Sanitation Company
as a part of -Spring Clean -Up Week.
March 10, 1975 Tri-City Area Anti -Litter Committee;
release information to Radio Stations,
Newspapers, Local T.V. Station and
all other means of advertising the
3 dates of Clean -Up Week.
March-13, 1975 Street Division (Sign Shop);
Prepare 4'x8' sign defining the scope
of Clean -Up Week.
March 18, 1975 Mayor Frazee:
Issue proclamation establishing
March 24-28th Jolly Green Clean -Up
Week.
March 24, 1975 McDougal Sanitation Company;
Deliver one 40 cubic yard drag -on
box. Location of box is East of
Fire Station on Elm Avenue for use
as a collection depot. Box shall be
dumped daily and returned the following
P.M. until the completion of the program.
March 24-28 City Forces -Street Division:
Install 4'x8' sign at collection depot
located on Elm Avenue. Assist in the
program as needed to remove unwanted
heavy items. A-1 Towing and Dismantling,
3195 Tyler Street, assist in the
program by removing scrapped vehicles
and other heavy items.
Police Department:
Check for stolen vehicles before vehicles
are removed from curbline by A-1
Towing and Dismantling.
