Statement of the ?fatter --
At its November 16, 1974 meeting, the Council authorized an appraisal of the property at the southwest corner of Chestnut and Monroe. This appraisal was completed and indicated a value
of $72,500.00. Discussions have been held with a representative of the property owner. At this time all indications are that
the property owner cannot indicate if or when the property might be available for sale. Because of this situation the City is in no position to negotiate further at this time.

Citu Manaaer's Recornnendation
Based on the appraisal price and the proposal made by the
school district, it would be to the economic advantage of
the City if they could have proceeded with the site at the corner of Chestnut and Monroe. However, because of the property's
indefinite status, the staff cannot expedite the swimming
pool project without the City invoking its legal rights in acquiring property for public purposes, or by going back to
the original site at Magnolia School.
The staff has held one meeting with property owners in the
area of the Chestnut/Monroe site, at which time considerable
opposition to the pool at that location was voiced.
Council 'Action
2-4-75 The staff was instructed to continue negotiations for the site at Chestnut and Monroe.
