1975-76 Lighting System Report City Engineer
Statement of the Hatter
The costs of energy and maintenance for the City's street lighting
system are being assessed to property owners through the formation
of Lighting Maintenance Districts. In accordance with Sections
18660 and 18661 of the Streets and Highways Code, a report and
district map containing an estimate of maintenance and operation
costs must be prepared by the City Engineer.
A tentative schedule of procedures is as follows:
Resolution approving report of lighting system June 3, 1975
Resolution of Intention June 3, 1975
Posting of notices . June 30, 1975
Publication July 3, 1975
Final resolution and contract August 5, 1975
Transmit roll and resolution to Tax Collector August 6, 1975
This schedule must be closely adhered to, since assessments must be
submitted to the tax collector no later than August 10, 1975 to be
included in the 1975-76 tax bills. .

RESOLUTION NO. 3638
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, ORDERING
THE CITY ENGINEER TO PREPARE AND FILE A
REPORT PURSUANT TO THE MUNICIPAL LIGHTING
MAINTENANCE DISTRICT ACT OF 1927 FOR THE . "\T
MAINTENANCE AND OPERATION OF A STREET v *
LIGHTING SYSTEM IN THE CITY OF CARLSBAD
WHEREAS, the public convenience and necessity require the
maintenance and operation of a street lighting system in the City
of Carlsbad for a period of months beginning July 1, 1975 and
ending June 30, 1977; and
WHEREAS, it is the intention of the City Council of the City
of Carlsbad to proceed pursuant to the provisions of Division 14,
Part 3 of the Streets and "Highways Code of the State of California,
being the Municipal Lighting Maintenance District Act of 1927 to
accomplish said system; and
WHEREAS, the provisions .of said Act require that a written
report regarding said system be prepared by the City Engineer and
filed with the City Council prior to the adoption of a resolution
of intention to form said district.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Carlsbad as follows:
. 1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the City Engineer of the City of Carlsbad be and
he is hereby ordered to prepare and file a written report pursuant

to Section 18660 of the Streets and Highways Code regarding the
operation and maintenance of a street lighting system in the
City of Carlsbad.
3. That the City Engineer in connection with said report is
also ordered to prepare and file a map of the proposed district
1 in accord with Section 18661 of said Code.
2 PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the
3 City Council held the 6th day of May , 1975, by the
4 following vote, to wit:
5 AYES: Councilmen Frazee, Chase, Lewis, Skotnicki and
Councilwoman Casler
6 NOES: None
7 ABSENT: None
