DOWNTOWN STREET TREE PROGRAM
Statement of the Matter
Over the past 6 months the City staff and representatives
of the Downtown Association and the Chamber of Commerce
have been discussing the need to replace and/or add to the
street trees in the downtown area.
The Parks and Recreation Commission has reviewed and
recommended the proposal which was a joint effort of the
City and the business community. It is estimated that the
cost of the tree program will be approximately $1,800.00.
Funds are available in Account No. 5-114-6.7.

Recommendation:
By.minute motion, authorize staff to obtain the necessary
Coast Commission permits and proceed with the program.

The following procedures would be needed
to implement this
program:
A. City Council Approval.
B. Coastal Commission Approval for the
removal of three
trees
and the planting of 80 additional
trees.
The total
project could be completed within a thirty day period.
The staff
recommends the approval of the
downtown tree program.
