Robertson Advisor, Mayor's Youth Committee DATE: JULY 30, 1975 TO: CITY COUNCIL FROM: City Manager MMITTEE/SKATEBOARD ORDINANCE SUBJECT: MAYOR'S YOUTH CO If the Council ctheumatterwith should be referred to recommendation, of an ordinance. the City Attorney for preparation Significant thought went into the recommendation and the staff does not want to frustrate t ese efforts - It seems to the staff however, thatas submitted, may increase the problem rather than reduce it. The proposal specifically authorizes skateboards on all named. City streets except those acomplaints received ntindicatethat by this office and the Police Dep the problem exists beyond those limits, and it will difficult to inform complainants that there is nothing that can be done. The Youth Committee is new and the City staff may not have taken steps to see that they had input from the affected departments. Although I do not necessarily want to delay this item, the Council may find it useful to haveew the Chieterfurther. of Police and the City Attorney While this staff work would normally be done prior to bringing the matter to the Council, we did nIf Chet to delay the Youth Committee recommendations. ect, the matter houldsbeurther referrediormation on to the staff. subj ma PAUL .
