DEPARTMENT; CITY MANAGER C. Mgr.
Subject:
EXTENSION OF TEMPORARY PERMIT FOR CARLSBAD CABLE TELEVISION
Statement of the Matter
The City Council by minute action extended for a period of six (6)
months the temporary permit to operate to Carlsbad Cable Television.
This permit permits community antennae services to be provided by
Carlsbad Cable Television in the Alta Mira and Tanglewood areas.
This permit expires October, 1975. Therefore, it is recommended that
the temporary permit to operate be extended. In that the City Manager
\
expects to come forward to the Council with a proposed cable tele-
vision ordinance during November, 1975, it is recommended that the
extension be for a period of one year, or until adoption by the
Council of the ordinance, whichever date comes first. Such action
by the Council would preclude the necessity of returning to the
Council for a short term extension for Carlsbad Cable Television if
the adoption of the ordinance ensues as anticipated.
Exhibit:
Staff recommendation to the City Manager; It is recommended that
the City Council, by minute motion, extend the temporary permit to
operate for Carlsbad Cable Television for a period of one year or(within
3 months after the granting of a CATV franchise for the City, whichever
date comes sooner.) The stipulation of the motion should-be that the
City Manager be directed to inform Carlsbad Cable Television by letter
of the extension and the term of the extension of the temporary
permit to operate.
