Mgr. Subject: GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION - March 2, 1976 Statement of the Matter The date set for the General Municipal Election is March 2, 1976. It is necessary that the Council, by resolution, call the election for the purpose of filling three (3) seats on the Council. Nominations will be open as of December 4, 1975 and will close December 24, 1975 at 5:00 P.M. In the past the City has used the firm of Martin & Chapman as its election supplier, and the staff recommends that this firm be employed to furnish supplies for this election. Exhibits 1. RESOLUTION N0._3800_ 2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, CALLING AND GIVING 3 NOTICE OF THE HOLDING OF A GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN SAID CITY ON TUESDAY, 4 THE 2nd DAY OF MARCH, 1976, FOR THE ELECTION OF CERTAIN OFFICERS OF SAID CITY AS REQUIRED 5 BY THE PROVISIONS OF THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA RELATING TO GENERAL LAW CITIES. 6 7 WHEREAS, under the provisions of the laws relating to 8 General Law Cities in the State of California, a regular general 9 municipal election shall be held on the 2nd day of March, 1976, 10 for the election of three (3) members of the City Council of 11 said City for the full term of four years. 12 NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, 13 CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS 14 FOLLOWS: 15 SECTION 1. That pursuant to the requirements of the laws 16 of the State of California relating to General Law Cities within 17 said State, there shall be, and there is hereby called and ordered I 18 held in the City of Carlsbad, County of San Diego, State of Cali- 19 j fornia, on Tuesday, the 2nd day of March, 1976, a regular general 20 municipal election of the qualified electors of said City for the 21 purpose of electing three (3) members of the City Council of said 22 City for the full term of four years. 23 SECTION 2. That the ballots to be used at said election 24 shall be, both as to form and matter contained therein, such as 25 may be required by law to be used thereat. 26 SECTION 3. That the City Clerk of said City is hereby 27 XX j 28 XX 1 2 3 4 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 23 24 25 26 27 28 authorized, instructed and directed to procure and furnish any and all official ballots, notices, printed matter and all supplies equipment and paraphernalia that nay be necessary in order to properly and lawfully conduct said election. SECTION 4. That the polls for said election shall be open at seven o'clock A.M. of the day of said election and shall remain open continuously from said time until seven o'clock P.M. of the same day when said polls shall be closed, except as pro- vided in Section 14436 of the Elections Code of the State of California. SECTION 5. That in all particulars not recited in this Resolution, said election shall be held and conducted as provided by law for holding municipal elections in said City. SECTION 6. That notice of the time and place of holding said election is hereby given and the City Clerk is hereby author ized, instructed and directed to give such further or additional notice of said election, in time, form and manner as required by law. SECTION 7. That in the event a school district election is scheduled to be held on the same day in the same territory or in territory that is in part the same as the election called by this resolution, the City Council hereby consents to the con- solidation of such election with the election called by this resol ut i on . SECTION 8. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this Resolution; shall enter the same in the book of original Resolutions of said City; and shall make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the records of the 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 ;2A 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 proceedings of the City Council of said City, in the minutes of the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted. SECTION 9. That this Resolution shall take effect immediately. PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a meeting of the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California held December 2, 1975, by the following vote, to wit: AYES: Councilmen Frazee, Chase, Lewis, Skotnicki and Councilwoman Casler NOES: None ABSENT: None ATTEST: ET E.
