Statement of the Matter
Approval has been received for a $lO,OOOgrant from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (Grant No. B-75-UC-06-0501) to
construct wheel chair ramps for the handicapped in the inner city
area. A survey was made using the criteria of (1) pedestrian
volumes, (2) proximity to elderly or handicapped populations (3) . potential for increased pedestrian traffic (4) proximity to inner city activity centers and (5) continuity of pedestrian routes. Exhibits (A) and (B) list the proposed locations of ramps in staff recommended priority. It is intended that the ramps be constructed in this order to the extent that funds.allow.

Recommendations .
Approve the list of intersections to be ramped and direct the City
Engineer to prepare plans and specifications.
COUNCIL ACTION
3/16/76 A motion was made that.the list of intersections to be
ramped be approved and the City Engineer be directed to prepare
plans and specifications.
