Subject: Adoption of the 1973 Edition of the Uniform Housing
Code
Statement of the Matter
The City of Carlsbad is presently operating under the provisions
of 1970 Edition of the Uniform Housing Code. The 1973 Edition
of the Uniform Housing Code has been promulgated and it is now
appropriate for the City of Carlsbad to take the steps necessary
to adopt it for use in our City.
Exhibit
Ordinance No. adopting the 1973 Edition of the Uniform
Housing Code.
Recommendation
The Building Department recommends the adoption of the 1973
Edition of the Uniform Housing Code. The City Attorney recommends
that if the Council.concurs, your action is to read the title
of the attached ordinance and -then, by motion, set a public
hearing to consider its adoption. The hearing should be set
at least 15 days from the date of this meeting. The City Clerk
should be directed to publish the required notices containing
the statement that copies of the ordinance adopting the code
and the code are on file with the Clerk and available to the
public. Notice should also contain a description of the purposes
and subject of the ordinance and the code.

public hearing June 1, 1976.
6-1-76 Ordinance #8068 was introduced for a first reading.
6-15-76 Ordinance #8068 was given a second reading and adopted.

ORDINANCE NO. 8068
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, REPEALING
ORDINANCE NO. 8058, AND AMENDING TITLE 18
OF THE CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL CODE BY THE
ADDITION OF CHAPTER 18.06, TO ADOPT BY
REFERENCE THE 1973 EDITION OF THE UNIFORM
HOUSING CODE.
The City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California does,
ordain as follows:
SECTION 1: Ordinance No. 8058 is hereby repealed.
SECTION 2: That Title 18 of the Carlsbad Municipal Code
is amended by the addition of Chapter 18.06 to read as follows:
"Chapter 18.06
UNIFORM HOUSING CODE
Sections:
18.06.010 Adoption of Uniform Housing Code.
18.06.020 Building official designated.
18.06.030 Violations.
18.06.010 Adoption of Uniform Housing Code. The Uniform
Housing Code, 1973 Edition, copyrighted by the International
Conference of Building Officials is hereby adopted by reference
as the Citv of Carlsbad Housing Code.
18.06.020 Building official designated. The Director of
Building and Housing of the City of Carlsbad is hereby designated
as the building official as mentioned in the Uniform Housing Code
and is hereby designated as the person who shall enforce all of
the provisions of said code.
18.06.30 Violations. Any person or corporation who
violates any of the provisions of this chapter is quilty of a
misdemeanor."
EFFECTIVE DATE: This ordinance shall be effective thirty
days after its adoption, and the City Clerk shall certify to the

1 adoption of this ordinance and cause it to be published at least
2 once in the Carlsbad Journal within fifteen days after its adop-
3 tion.
4 INTRODUCED AND FIRST READ at a regular meeting of the
5 Carlsbad City Council held on the 1st day of June 1976,
6 and thereafter
7 PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of said City
8 Council held on thel5th da_v of June , 1976, by the follow-
9 ing vote, to wit:
10 AYES: Councilmen Frazee, Lewis, Packard, Skotnicki and
Councilwoman Casler
11 NOES: None
12 ABSENT: None

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
RE: ADOPTION BY REFERENCE
OF THE 1973 UNIFORM HOUSING
CODE
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City Council of the
City of Carlsbad will hold a Public Hearing on June 1, 1976
in the City Council Chambers, 1200 Elm Avenue, Carlsbad,
California at 7:00 P.M. to consider adoption of Ordinance No.
8068, which repeals Ordinance No. 8058, and amends Title 18
of the Carlsbad Municipal Code by the addition of Chapter
18.06, and adopts by reference the 1973 Edition of the Uniform
Housing Code.
