Subject: RESURFACING OF CITY STREETS - FY 1975-76
CONTRACT NO. 1031
Statement of the Matter
The City Council by its Resolution No. 3920 adopted June 15, 1976, awarded subject contract to Sully-Miller Contracting Co. of Ocean-
side. The contract was in the amount of $92,256.76 with a unit price
of $14.78 per ton for asphalt paving. Funds in the amount of $111,784. were available for the resurfacing program.
Due to the favorable bid response, additional streets can be resur-
faced at the contract unit price of $14.78 per ton. Exhibit "A" in-
cludes recommendations for additional streets to be included in the
resurfacing program at an approximate cost of $14,041.00.

Recommendation
Council approve the supplemental list of streets to be resurfaced and authorize by motion the City Engineer to initiate the necessary change orders.

The apparent low bid of Sully-Miller of $14.78, per ton is somewhat less than the original estimate of $16.50 per ton. following streets, which were presented to Council as alternates, be in- cluded in this program:

It is further recommended that the following streets also be included in this program:

This street has been previously deferred due to the pending undergrounding district - this work will be completed by 1 July and, therefore, can be included in this years program.

Merchants Parking Lot
Elm to Grand 205 Wed ne s day
This area is used to provide additional parking and access to the downtown area - - original construction and upgrade was done by Merchants Association in 1954.

The total tonnage for these additional streets is 950 tons which will require an additional $14,041 or a total contract of $106,297.76. The remaining funds
within the total $111,784 authorization will be required for manhole and valve
