I__- 37~92 - DATE: July 6, 1976 DEPPfRTMCNT: PI ANNING - SUBJ ECT : SALE OF CITY OWNED PROPERTY -- - -I- I_ Statement of the Matter On May 4, 1976, a letter was received from the Assistant City Manager requesting the Planning Commission to approve the sale of certain Citj owned property. On June 9, 1976 by Minute Motion the Planning Commission recommended the sale of this property in that the property is not necessary for t public use as envisioned by the General Plan. The Planning Commission recommends that the property be sold subject the condition in the attached letter of May 4, 1976 from the Assistar City Manager. Exhibits: Staff report of June 9, 1976 with attachments. Recommendation: If the City Council concurs with the recommendation of the Planning C mission, the Council should direct the City Attorney to prepare the necessary documents and instruct the City Manager to initiate the sal of this property. Counci 1 action 7-6-76 The City Attorney was directed to prepare the necessary documents for the sale of the property, and the City Manag instructed to initiate the sale. . - e MEMORANDUM a June 9, 1976 TO : PLANNING COMMI S S I ON FROM: PLANNING DEPARTMENT SUBJECT: REQUEST FOR APPROVAL - SALE OF CITY-OWNED PROPERTIES Recomendation: Staff recommends approval of sale of the subject property, subject to the condition in the attache( letter. The Planning Department has received a letter from the Assistant City Manager requesting the Planning Commission to approve the sale of certain City property (see attache letter and location map). The subject property is located on the east side of Interstate 5, adjacent to the freeway right-of-way and across Pi0 Pic0 from the intersection of Buena Vista Avenue. Existing Zoning: Subject Property: R-1-7500 North: R-1-7500 South: Pi0 Pic0 R-0-W and 1-5 R-0-W East: Pi0 Pic0 R-0-W and R-1-7500 West: 1-5 R-0-W Surrounding Land Use: Subject Property: Vacant with some asphalt paving North: Vacant (for sale) South: Pi0 Pico/I-5 East: Buena Vista Way West: 1-5 The General Plan Land Use Map designates the subject property as "0" - Professional and Related Commercial. The description of the "0" land use designation is as follows: Professional and Related Commercial: This classification designates areas which are compatible -environmentally suited to office and professional uses, in ding compatible and supportive related commercial uses. Staff has contacted the adjacent property owner to the nor1 about the possibility of his desire to purchase the proper1 He has indicated a willingness to purchase the property to enlarge his lot. Staff feels this would be the optimal use of the subject property. Sale of the parcel is in conformance with the General Plan. State law requires that the Planning Commission give approval to the sale of City owned properties. We are requesting authorization by your yroup for the legal description an8 map. This is a 5,500 sq. ft. area The parcel in question is a portion of the land that was relinquished to the City by the State after the construction of Interstate Route 5. The State of California, Department of Transportation, has indicated to us by letter that the City is free to sell the parcel The minimum bid price acceptable is $500.00.
