TITLED JUVENILE DIVERSION OFFICER (Female).- A
Statement of the Matter i
The City Council Resolution No.3887, adopted the position of
JUVENILE DIVERSION OFFICER (Female), Salary Range 36. Subsequent '
td the addition of this position to the Classification and Salary
Range Schedule of the City the position was advertised and
applications received. Due to the requirement contained in the
"Employment Standards" in the classification, which stated:
" . . and possession of a Basic Post Certificate as issued
by the'California Commission on Peace Officers Standards
and Training."

Discussing this employment standard with other applicants and
other prospective applicants it has been determined that this
provides an unnecessary barrier to receiving applications from
suitable candidates. Therefore, the attached resolution requests
the deletion of the above cited statement -from the "Employraenc
'Standards" for the classification JUVENILE DIVERSION OFFICER (Female). -

by deleting certain employment standards for the position

JUVENILE DIVERSION OFFICER (Female)
Definition
This is an entry level specialist class in the police
series with duties involving investigation, super-
vision and counseling of juvenile offenders or neglec- ;
ked juveniles and related work as required. This
t
work is performed under general supervision.

1. Performs special and technical inquiries into

social and physical environment of minors referred
to the department.
2. Makes referrals to appropriate agencies for
juvenile rehabilitation and assistance.
3. Performs individual, group -and family counseling

on both a preliminary and continuing basis.
4. Works closely with all agencies providing juvenile
family services.

the area of juvenile counseling.

Any combination of experience and training equivalent,
