Mgr. bunlect: AUTOMATIC AID - CARLSBAD/OCEANSIDE WO day trial period) Statgment of the Matter. From time to time Automatic Aid has been discussed between the cities of Carlsbad and Oceanside. It is still felt that this is a valuable aid in providing better fire protection for the two cities. Staff has'had several meetings with Chief Rosenquist of Oceanside and his staff concerning Automatic Aid. We are all in agreement that it would be desirable to conduct a test period in order to make an analysis of some of the problems that might be encountered, i.e., communications, training methods and response areas. This test period is proposed for March 1, 1977 to June 30, 1977. At the end of the test period we would discontinue the automatic aid, analyze the statistics and make specific recommendations to the City Council. No costs will be incurred. Exhibit 1.
