F s PREVAILING WAGE RATES - PUBLIC WORKS CONTRACTS 1 Section 1773.2 of the Labor Code specifies that a public body awarding a contract for public work may refer to copies of the j prevailing wage rates as determined by the Director of Industrial Relations,on file in its principal offices, in Lieu of including the wage rates in the bid specifications. The awarding body must publish the prevailing wage rates at least once each year in a newspaper of general circulation if they s choose not to incorporate them into each call for bids. l{4 } EXHIBIT: Resolution No._�'003 adopting General Prevailing Wage Rates as determined by the Director of thb Department of Industrial Relations. WHEREAS, Section 1773 of the Labor Code of the State of California requires that the general prevailing rate of per diem crags and the general prevailing rates for legal holiday and over- time work,, in the locality in which a contract for public work is to be performed for each craft, classification or type of workman needed to execute the contraci. shall be determined by the Director of the Department of Industrial Relations; and WHEREAS, Section 1773.2 provides that in lieu of specifying the prevailing wage rates in such call for bids, the awarding body Bray refer to copies thereof at its principal office; and WHEREAS, the provisions of Section 1773.2 of the Labor C0011 of the State of Caliios:nia provide that where the awarding body chooseu to refer to a copy of the pcc%railing wage rate on file at its principal office in lieu of specifying them in each call for bids, the awarding body shall publish its determination of the prevailing wage rates in a 1,ewspaper of general circulation at least one time during each year and, if there is any change in the prevailing wage rates during the course of the year, the awarding body shall specify the changes in the first call ;or bids made by the awarding body thereafter; and WHEREAS, the Director of the Department of Industrial Relations has compiled a schedule of the prevailing wage rate in this area for each craft, classification or type of: workman needed to execute contracts for public works; and WHEREAS, a copy of the said schedule, marked Exhibit "A", is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference thereto; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that, in lieu of specifying the said prevailing wage rates in each call for bids, the City of I 6 V � J 1� 3i 41' 5 61' 7 8 9 10 t 11' 12i 13 14 15 16 17 t 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 2� 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 W Carlsbad shall refer to a copy of the said prevailing wage rates on file with the City Clerk of the City of Carlsbad; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that, if there is any change in the said prevailing wage rates during the course of the year, the City of Carlsbad shall specify such changes in its first call for bids and any bid call published thereafter; BE IT FURTIiER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is directed to cause the publication of this resolution in the Carlsbad Journal, a newspaper of general circulation, published in the said City of Carlsbad. PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, this 1st day of March 1977 by the following vote, to wit: AYES: Councilmen Frazee, Lewis, Skotnicki, Packard and Councilwoman NOES: gone.
