The proposed street name change was initiated by the City per City Council policy in response to comments from the Police and Fire Departments.
Because of the large number of residents on this street, the matter was reviewed by the Council on June 21, 1977, to determine if the proposed change was necessary. At that meeting, the Council directed the Planning Commission to conduct a public hearing.on the matter.
On August 10, 1977, the Commission held their public hearing and has recommended approval of the change. Their recommendation includes the provision that the physical change shall not occur for 18 months, similar to the condition imposed during the change of Lowder Lane to Paseo del Norte. The Commission received one letter of opposition. No one spoke during the public hearing.

Recommendation
The Planning Commission recommends that SNC-VI1 be approved. Staff agrees and recommends that the City Council adopt City Council Resolution No.T/YL approving SNC-VII.

changing the name of Olive Drive to Pi0 Pic0 Drive.

REQUEST: To consider recommending to City Council the changing of Olive Drive to Pi0 Pic0
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends that the proposed street name change be APPROVED for the following reasons:
1) Streets with the same names and with similar sounding names make it difficult for emergency vehicles to respond to correct locations.
2) Approving the name changes for the conflicting streets will relieve this situation.
3) The name changes will help promote the intent of the City's street name change policy.
BACKGROUND:
The City Council street name change policy provides for the Planning Cornmission to initiate changes where there is a conflicting situation among street names. A number of these situations were identified by the Police and Fire Departments and the names of about 16 streets have been changed. Olive Drive was one of the streets identified as con- flicting. Because of the large number of residences on this street the matter was reviewed by the Council on June 21 to determine if a street name change was necessary. At that meeting Council directed the Planning Commission to hold a public hearing on SNC-7.
DISCUSSION
The proposed street name change was initiated by the City in response to comments from the Police and Fire Departments. The comments (attached) indicate that a potential dispatching problem may exist as Olive Drive and Olive Avenue have the same name (see location map).
There are approximately 24 single family residences on Olive Drive and only 14 on Olive Avenue. Staff, however, is recommending that Olive Drive be changed because it runs directly into Pi0 Pic0 and the two streets could easily become one.
