DATE: September 6, 1977- City Atty ‘Ufa City Mgr. - 5- - D EPA RTMENT : PLANNING - ’ SUBJECT: Directional Signs STATEMENT OF THE MATTER The City has received two requests from outdoor sign companies asking the Planning Department to develop a procedure to allow temporary subdivision directional signs. About two years ago the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce requested the opportunity to work with the City in developing a directional sign program. of members of the Chamber and City Planning Staff. worked out that would provide for directions to civic interest areas, i.e.: downtown, beach, airport etc., and direction to subdivisions presently being marketed. Upon receiving the present request to reconsider our regulation, Staff contacted Mr. Don Brown, Executive Director of the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce. Richardson, dated July 13, 1977 Therefore nothing has occurred Recommendation Staff recommends that the Council request the Chamber of Commerce to reinstate the committee on directional signing working with Planning Staff as a resource. Council action 9-6-77 The Council requested that the Chamber of Commerce reinstate the committee on directional signing and work with the Planning staff as a resource.
