F\ Subject: GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION - Changing hours that polls wITl be open/ establishing polling places and appointing election officer: Statement of the Matter The City of Carlsbad consented to the consolidation of the San Marcos School District election with the General Municipal Election to be held March 7, 1978. It is, therefore, necessary that Resolution #5263 be amended to provide that the polls will be open to 8:00 o'clock P.M. A resolution has been prepared for the Council's consideration. At the time the Council adopted Resolution #5263, calling and giving notice of the election, the polling places and precinct workers were not designated in the resolution. A resolution has been prepared for the Counci 1'.s- consideration, amending Resolution -#5263, to provide for the polling places and electio-n officers, as. well as fixing the amount of compensation to be paid. Exhibits 1. Resolution #x^fjg tf'J , amending Resolution #5263, to provide for the hours the polls will te open. 2. Resolution # JfJLjFG , amending Resolution #5263, designating polling places ''and election officers. Recommendation Council adopt the above referenced resolutions. Council action 1-17-78 Resolution #5287 was. adopted, revising Section 4 of Resolution #5263 to provide that polls will be open to 8:00 o'clock P.M. on said day. Resolution $5288 was adopted, amending Resolution #5263, establish ing voting precincts. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 RESOLUTION NO. 5287 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, -CALIFORNIA, AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 5263, CALLING AND GIVING NOTICE OF THE HOLDING OF A GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION IN SAID CITY ON TUESDAY, THE 7TH DAY OF MARCH, 1978, BY REVISING SECTION 4 TO PROVIDE THAT POLLS WILL BE OPEN TO 8:00 O'CLOCK P.M. ON SAID DAY. The City Council of the City of Carlsbad DOES HEREBY RESOLVE that Section 4 of Resolution No. 5263 is hereby revised to read as fol1ows: "SECTION 4. That the polls for said election shall be , open at seven o'clock A.M. of the day of said election and shall remain open continuously from said time until eight o'clock P.M. of the same day when said polls shall be closed, except as provided in Section 14436 of the Elections Code of the State- of California." PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a meeting of the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California held on the 17th day of January, 1978, by the following vote, to wit: AYES: Councilmen Frazee, Lewis, Packard, Skotnicki and Councilwcman Caslcr NOES: None ABSENT: None ROBERT C. AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 5263 AS AMENDED BY RESOLUTION NO. 5287 , CALLING AND GIVING NOTICE OF THE HOLDING OF A GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION IN SAID CITY ON TUESDAY, THE 7TH DAY OF MARCH, 1978, ESTABLISH- ING VOTING PRECINCTS. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That for the purpose of holding said regular general municipal election, there shall be and are hereby established twenty-six (26) voting precincts consisting of consolidations of the regular election precincts in the City of Carlsbad established for the holding of state and county elections, as said regular election precincts exist on the date of adonting of this resolution. That the polling places for the respective precincts shall be the places hereinafter designated; and that the persons hereinafter named, being competent and qualified electors and residents of said City and of their respective voting precincts, are hereby appointed officers of election for their respective voting precincts and they shall hold said election and make return thereof in the manner provided by law. The polling places and the persons appointed as election officers are shown on Exhibit "A" attached hereto and made part hereof. SECTION 2. That the compensation of the persons herein- before named as election officers is hereby fixed at the sum of Thirty-five Dollars for each Inspector and Thirty Dollars for each Judge and Clerk for said election. When required, the/ compensation of the Custodian of a building shall be Fifteen Dollars for said election. SECTION 3. That this Resolution shall take effect immediately.
