Statement of the .Matter
The County of San Diego has offered to transfer to the
City of Carlsbad a small specialized crash/fire truck
designed to fight gasoline fires.
The unit is a 1968 Ford and has been inspected by the
fire department and found to be in good condition.

from the County of San Diego to the City of Carlsbad.

SUBJECT: Transfer of Palomar Airport Crash/Fire Truck
to the City of Carlsbad
The County of San Diego hat offered to transfer to the City
of Carlsbad a small specialized crash/fire truck designed
to fight gasoline fires.
With the anticipated annexation of the airport in the near
future and the possibility of highway incidents involving
flammable liquids this truck would make a desirable addition
to our fire fighting capabilities.
If the vehicle is accepted it is our intention to move it
from the airport and house it at Fire Station #2. The unit
would be operated by the personnel presently assigned to
the engine company at that station.
As you know we do not have any agreement with the County of
San Diego to provide fire protection for the airport; however,
in the interest of life safety we have responded to calls of
aircraft in distress and should the annexation not proceed,
perhaps some arrangement could be made for aircraft'in distress.
