Mgr, Subject: .I 1. - HARDING STREET CWITY CENTER - CONTRACT NO. 1049 Statement of the Matter The City Council at its September 13, 1977 meeting approved the space utilization scheme for the Harding Street Community Center. At its October 18, 1977 meeting, the City Council authorized execution of the agreement with the architect for the preparation of plans and specifications for the renovation of the facility. Council at its November 15, 1977 meeting directed that the kitchen in the recrea- tion hall be made suitable for catered meals. The The architect has completed the plans for the renovation of the Community Center in accordance with the approved Conceptual Development Plan and has designed the kitchen to accommodate catered meals. MEMORANDUM - April 7, 1978 TO : City Manager FROM: Public Works Administrator SUBJECT: Harding Street Community Center The City Council, at its September 13, 1977 meeting, approved the space utilization scheme for the Harding Street Community Center. On October 18, 1977 the City Council authorized an agreement with the architect for the preparation of plans and specifications to accomplish the renovation. In authorizing the work, Council directed that the project have the ability to be phased so that in the event grant funds were not available for reno- vation of the Auditorium, we could proceed with modifications to the Rectory, Hall and Grounds and construct a new parking lot. The State has indicated that, subject to the review and approval of plans and specifications, 1977 Bond Act Grant Funds will be available and therefore we may construct the entire project. The Council, at its November 15, 1977 meeting, directed that the kitchen in the Recreation Hall was to be made suitable for catered meals. Funds in the amount of $21,245 are available in Park-in-Lieu Fund, Area #4. That the above recitations are true and correct. 2. 3. That the specifications as presented are hereby approved. That the City Clerk of the City of Carlsbad is hereby authorized and directed to proceed to publish, in accordance with law, notice to contractors inviting bids for the renovation of the Harding Street Comity Center, in accordance with the specifications hereinabove referred to.
