Statement of the Matter

A bid for subject contract was opened by the City Clerk on May 2, 1978.
bid, in the amount of $94,423.40, was submitted by Sully-Niller Contracting This firm has satisfactorily performed work on past City
contracts.
The

The engineer's estimate for this project is $94,700 and funds are available in Account 1-125-2450 in the amount of $166,500 for this contract and other storm damages.
Following Council's authorization to advertise for bids for subject contract at the April 18, 1978 meeting, a "Notice Inviting Bids'' was published in the Carlsbad Journal on April 22, 1978. specifications were sent to plan rooms and construction publications for dis- semination to their clients. Six sets of plans and specifications were sent
to road contractors and one set to an electrical sub-contractor.
In view of the emergency nature of the work and the fact the Way bid submi.tted was responsive and under the engineer's estimate, it is recommended the con- tract be awarded to Sully-Miller Contracting Co.

RESOLUTION NO. 5408
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD,
CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING BID AND AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION
OF CONTRACT NO. 1052 FOR RESTORATION OF STORM-DAMAGED
STREETS AT VAR I OUS LOCAT IONS
WHEREAS a bid has been received by the City of Carlsbad for restoration
of storm-damaged streets at various locations, Contract No. 1052; and
WHEREAS the low bid received for this construction was submitted by
Sully-Miller Contracting Company of Oceanside in the amount of $94,423.40; and
WHEREAS funds in the amount of $94,700 are available in Account 1-125-2450
for this project;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carls-
bad as follows:
1. The above recitations are true and correct.
2. The bid of $94,423.40 by Sully-Miller Contracting Company of Oceanside
for Contract No. 1052 for restoration of storm-damaged streets at various lo-
cations is hereby accepted and the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized
to execute a contract therefor.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council of
the CLty of Carlsbad held the 16th day of May , 1978, by the
following vote, to wit:
