Request for additional funds
Statement of the Matter
The General Municipal Election was called in December of 1977, and
at that time there were 8,796 registered voters in the City of
Carlsbad. When the registration closed in February, 1978, there
were 13,156 registered voters.
All printing costs, the number of precincts needed and precinct workers
needed to .conduct the election are.based on the number of registered
voters. Also the growth in the southern part of the City was a
determining factor.
In preparing the budget for fiscal year 1977-78 $9,000.00 was allocated
for the election. Due to the increase in registration the total cost
of the election was $12,318.88, leaving the account overdrawn
$3,318.88.

Recommendation
Authorize the transfer of $3,318.88 from the General Fund Balance
Account #1-000-0900 to the Election Expense Account #1-102-2880,
by the adoption of Resolution

6-7-78 Resolution #5434 was adopted, authorizing the transfer of
^$3,318-88 from the General Fund Balance Account #1-000-0900
to the Election Expense Account #1-102-2880.

RESOLUTION NO. 5434
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING
THE TRANSFER OF FUNDS FOR ADDITIONAL COSTS
INCURRED IN THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION
HELD March 7, 1978.
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad
as follows:
1. That the transfer of Three thousand three hundred
eighteen dollars and eighty-eight cents ($3,318.88) from General
Fund Balance Account #1-000-0900 to the Election Expense Account
#1-102-2880 is hereby authorized and approved.
2. That Department of Finance Fund Transfer No. 58 on
file in said department and incorporated by reference herein is
approved.
