An application has been made by David K. Kikuchi, architect for Glendale Federal Savings, to make these findings and allocate 2.3 EDUs of sewer capacity within the existing Plaza Camino Real Shopping Center. The City Engineer's memorandum dated June 14, 1978 discusses the necessary find- ings to be made by the Council before the request can be approved. The 2.3 EDUs should be allocated from the contingency reserve of 44 EDUs remaining from the Phase II sewer allocation system. Upon approval of this request, 41.7 EDUs will be left in this category. Exhibits 1. City Engineer's memo dated June 14, T978. 2, Applicant1* letter dated May 26, 1978 Recommendation That City Council make the findings required pursuant to Section 18.05.020(10) of the Municipal Code and allocate the 2.3 EDUs of sewer capacity necessary ,to serve the proposed Glendale Federal facility in the existing Plaza Camino Real Shopping Center. • Council action: 7-5-78 Council made the findings required pursuant to Section 18.05.020(10) of the Municipal Code and directed the City Attorney to prepare the necessary documents allocating 2.3 EDUs of sewer capacity to serve the proposed Glendale Federal facility in the existing Plaza Camino Real Shopping Center. June 14, 1978 MEMORANDUM TO: City Manager FROM: City Engineer SUBJECT: SEWER CONNECTIONS AT PLAZA CAMINO REAL - 6LENDALE FEDERAL SAVINGS I have reviewed David Kikuchi's request for Glendale Federal Savings. This banking facility will occupy the last remaining vacant space within the exist- ing Plaza Camino Real Shopping Center. Section 18.05.020(10) of the Municipal Code allows for exemptions provided the Council makes certain findings. Based on available City records and information supplied by David Kukuchi, all of the required findings can clearly be made. These are: 1. The building permit is for work to be performed within the exterior walls and roof of an existing structure. 2. Said structure was constructed pursuant to a building permit issued prior to April 19, 1977. 3. Those portions of the structure for which the building permit would be issued pursuant to this subsection have not been previously occupied. 4. That the purpose of the building permit is to make internal modifications to the structure as necessary to accommodate occupancy by a first user of the space. In light of the above, I recommend the City Council grant the request and allocate the necessary EDUs of sewer service. Based on a floor area of 4050 SF, 2.3 EDUs are needed to serve the facility. These should be allocated from the contingency reserve of 44 EDUs remaining from the Phase II allocations. Upon approval of this request, 41.7 EDUs will be left in this category. Upon the issuance of the building permit, fees totaling $2,012.50 ($875.00 per EDU) will be collected. Tim Flanagan City Engineer TCF:FNL:pr David K.
