At its meeting of August 1, 1978, Council approved the Park Facilil ilevelopment project (procurement and installation of stationary COI picnic tables, benches and barbeque stands at six City owned parks: SB 174 Block Grant funds. Pursuant to the. requirements of this gr:
program, Council.must approve a resolution approving the applicatit funds. The Parks and Recreation Commission previously approved th: which is estimated to.cost $8,938, of which the State will fund $6 (if the project is approved) and the City will contribute $2,825 il ing funds.

SUBJECT: URBAN OPEN SPACE AND RECREATION PROGRAM (SI3 174)
The Urban Open Space and Recreation Program (SB 174 Block Grant]
provide $15 million during fiscal year 1978-79 for 75% State mat funds to cities, counties, and park and recreation districts whj
in turn provide 25% matching funds for acquisition and developm recreational areas and facilities in urbanized areas.
The City of Carlsbad has been allocated $6,113 under this progr: the Council has approved for Park Facilities Development (procul and installation of stationary concrete picnic tables, benches, barbeque stands at six City-owned parks). The total cost of tht ject is estimated to be $5,938, with cost to the city of $2,825 the time Council approved. this project, our allocation was estir to be $8,375 with cost to the City of $2,825, Subsequent to COI approval, the City was notified that our allocation had been re1 downwards to $6,113; however, our matching share will remain $2 the project was somewhat reduced in scope in order to avoid the contributing more funds.)

WHEREAS, the legislature of 'the State of California
enacted the Roberti-Z'berg Urban Openispace and Recreatic
Program, which provides funds to certain Folitical subdi7
of the State of California for acquiring lands and'for- dc
facilities to meet urban recreation needs; and
WHEREAS, the State Department of Parks and Recreatic
been delegated the responsibility for the administration
program, setting up necessary procedures governing said
application by local agencies under the 'program; and
WHEREAS, said procedures est'ablished by the State DE
