S~ (s> O 7 DATE: October 17, 1978 DEPARTMENT: City Manager Subject:Request for Funding -- Carlsbad Senior Citizens' Association Statement of the Matter The City of Carlsbad Senior Citizens' Association Budget for 1978-79 did not include rental costs for the Senior Center at 2945 Harding. The Senior Citizens' Association had anticipated moving into the former Rectory at the Harding Street Community Center in July and therefore, had not requested funds for the rental of an office during 1978-79. Since the renovation of the Community Center has not been completed, funds will be needed for the rental of an office at the present location Arrangements have been made with Southwest Development Company to continue to occupy the office at 2945 Harding on a month to month basis. The cost of the rent for fiscal year 1978-79 is $4,459, and funds are available from the unappropriated fund balance. Exhibit 1. Resolution No. ^SS?2. BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad as follows: 1. That the budget for the Senior Citizens penter is amended to have funds available in Account 01-134-2460 in the amount of $4,459 for the rental of office space at 2945 Harding Street. 2. That Department of Finance Fund Transfer No. 2 in a form on file in said department and incorporated by refer- ence herein is approved. RAUTENKRANZ, City Cflerk October 10, 1978 MEMORANDUM To: City Manager From: Administrative Assistant Subject: Senior Citizens Funding 1977-78, 1978-79 The 1977-78 City of Carlsbad Budget allocated $23,030 for Senior Citizens. Of this amount, $1,800 was budgeted for rental of an office space at 2945 Harding Street for six months. When the renovation of the former Rectory was not completed in January 1978, the budget was amended to include rental payments for the remainder of the fiscal year. This brought the total budget for the Senior Citizens during fiscal year 1977-78 to $25,259. The 1978-79 City of Carlsbad Budget allocated $26,132 for Senior Citizens. This amount includes funds for personnel, maintenance and operation of the Senior Center and a nu- trition program. The Carlsbad Senior Citizens' Association anticipated moving into the former Rectory at the Harding Street Community Center in July 1978 and did not include funds for rent when their budget request was submitted. If the yearly rent expenditure is included, the total budget for fiscal year 1978-79 would be $30,591. ^-Fl etcher
