Subject:Request for Funding -- Carlsbad Senior Citizens' Association
Statement of the Matter
The City of Carlsbad Senior Citizens' Association Budget for 1978-79
did not include rental costs for the Senior Center at 2945 Harding.
The Senior Citizens' Association had anticipated moving into the former
Rectory at the Harding Street Community Center in July and therefore,
had not requested funds for the rental of an office during 1978-79.
Since the renovation of the Community Center has not been completed,
funds will be needed for the rental of an office at the present location
Arrangements have been made with Southwest Development Company to
continue to occupy the office at 2945 Harding on a month to month basis.
The cost of the rent for fiscal year 1978-79 is $4,459, and funds are
available from the unappropriated fund balance.

MEMORANDUM

From: Administrative Assistant
Subject: Senior Citizens Funding
1977-78, 1978-79
The 1977-78 City of Carlsbad Budget allocated $23,030 for
Senior Citizens. Of this amount, $1,800 was budgeted for
rental of an office space at 2945 Harding Street for six
months. When the renovation of the former Rectory was not
completed in January 1978, the budget was amended to include
rental payments for the remainder of the fiscal year. This
brought the total budget for the Senior Citizens during
fiscal year 1977-78 to $25,259.
The 1978-79 City of Carlsbad Budget allocated $26,132 for
Senior Citizens. This amount includes funds for personnel,
maintenance and operation of the Senior Center and a nu-
trition program. The Carlsbad Senior Citizens' Association
anticipated moving into the former Rectory at the Harding
Street Community Center in July 1978 and did not include
funds for rent when their budget request was submitted. If
the yearly rent expenditure is included, the total budget
for fiscal year 1978-79 would be $30,591.
