COMMUNITY SWIM COMPLEX CONSULTANT'S AGREEMENT AMENDMENT ~ ~__~ - ~ Statement of the Matter At the October 3, 1978 Council meeting, staff was directed to meet with the architect, Kammeyer Lynch & Partners, to renegotiate the fee to provide for compensation for the extra work involved in the increased scope of the com- munity swim complex project. It has been determined that review of the plans and specifications by the Office of the State Architect will not be necessary. Based on that and the resultant reduction in related activities which are a part of the agreement (coordination with governmental agencies; consul tations in conjunction with construction), the architect has proposed a total fee of $88,000, which is less than staff's proposal submitted in June, 1978. I MEMORANDUM TO: City Manager FROM: Publ ic Works Administrator DAT E : October 23 , 1978 SUBJECT: COMMUNITY SWIM COMPLEX - CONSULTANT'S AGREEMENT As directed by the City Council , staff has met with the pool architect to negotiate an increased fee for the design of the pool complex. On Octo- ber 17, 1978, the architect submitted a new fee proposal (copy attached). The latest proposal is $8,900 less than that submitted to Council on Oc- tober 3, 1978. This is due to reductions of $5,000 in preparation of plans and specifications, $2,200 in coordination with government agen- cies and $1,700 in construction consultation. The latter two items of savings are due to the fact we apparently no longer need to send the plans through the Office of the State Architect for review. The architect's latest proposal for plans and specifications is, in our opinion, reasonable (6% of the estimated construction costs of $1,200,000) and we recommend that Council accept the revised proposal and approve a change to the contract. FOR THE DESIGN OF THE COMMUNITY SWIM COMPLEX AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE SAID AMENDMENT - BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, as follows: 1. That certain amendment to the agreement between the City of Carlsbad and Kammeyer Lynch 8 Partners, Inc. for d.esign of the community swim complex, a copy of which is attached hereto, marked Exhibit "A" and incorporated herein by reference, is hereby ap- proved. 2.
