Statement of the Matter
The San Diego Gas & Electric Company is scheduled to begin work on the underground
electric system in Grand Avenue, Madison, Jefferson and Harding Streets on February
5, 1979.
Municipal Code (Chapter 11.08) provides that affected property owners within the
district be notified of the date they must be ready to receive underground service
from the new system.
The removal of the overhead electrical system is scheduled for April 30, 1979.

Our Operations Department has reviewed the underground electric layout for this project and analyzed their construction the requirements. They have estimated 117 working days to car plete the project as outlined below:
Trench and substructures 58 working days (includes conduit, splice boxes and equipnent pads) Cable and transformers 32 working days Services 12 working days Overhead Cable Poles and Removal 20 working days
Total Less Maximum Days Overlap
122 working days 5 working days
Net Construction The 117 working days
Based on the proposed schedule, we have scheduled mr crews
to start construction February 5, 1979. the frame would establish July 27, 1979 as the completion date for our portion of the project. With the information available at this the, I would recmd April 30, 1979 as the customer ready date, This is also the date at which time all street lights should be installed and ready to receive service.

CALIFORNIA, SETTING THE TIME TO BE READY TO CONNECT TO
UNDERGROUND ELECTRIC SYSTEM IN UNDERGROUND UTILITY DISTRICT '
NO. 6
WHEREAS, on April 18, 1978, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad
adopted Resolution No. 5383 establishing Underground Utility District No. 6; and
WHEREAS, Section 11.08.030 of City Code requires that property owners be
noti f i cd of tlrne ts be rczdy to connect to the underground sys+en! by sl!Sse-
quent resolution; and
WHEREAS, the underground system is l-o be completed by July 27, 1979, and
overhead poles are to be removed by August 20, 1979;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad
as follows:
1. That -the date on which affected property owners must be ready to re-
ceive underground service is April 30, 1979.
2. That a certified copy of this resolution be recorded in the County Re-
corder's Office and also mailed to each affected property owner.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular-meeting of the City Council of
