Statement of the Matter
Bids for the planting of Laguna Riviera Park slope planting were opened by the City Clerk at 4:OO p.m. on February 28, 1979. Three bids were received
and are shown on the attached bid summary.
The low bid was submitted by Acer Landscape'of Long Beach in the amount of
$15,000. The bid exceeds the architect's estimate of $11,500 by $3,500.
Discussion with the architect indicates that the bonding requirements of
the City on what is considered a "small" project inflated the bids. Addi-
tionally, the estimate was prepared a year ago and inflation contributed
to the higher bids.
Budgeted funds in the amount of $lO,OOO are available in the project account.
Additional funds in the amount of $5,000 can be transferred from Park-in-lieu,
Area #4.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD,
CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER OF FUNDS FOR PLANTING
OF THE LAGUNA RlVlERA PARK SLOPE
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad as follows:
1. That the transfer of Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00) from the
'ark-in-lieu, Area #4 fund to the Laguna Riviera Park Slope Planting Project
lccount is hereby authorized and approved.
2. That Department of Finance Fund Transfer No. 27 on file in said de-
iartment and incorporated by reference herein is approved.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Cify Council of
the City of Carlsbad on the 20th day of March , 1979, by the follow-
ing vote, to wit:

PARK SLOPE - OF CONTRACT NO. 1060 FOR PLANTING OF THE LAGUNA RIVIERA
WHEREAS, bids have been received by the City of Carlsbad for planting of
the Laguna Riviera Park slope, Contract No. 1060; and
WHEREAS, the low bid received for this work was submitted by Acer Landscape
in the amount of $15,000; and
WHEREAS, funds are available in Account No. 1-145-3016 for this project;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad

1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2. That the bid of $15,000 by Acer Landscape of Long Beach for Contract
10. 1060 for planting of the Laguna Riviera Park slope is hereby accepted, and
the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute a contract therefor.
