Subject: OCEAN STREET BEACH ACCESS STEPS *- CONTRACT NO. 1058 Statement of the Matter On March 6, 1979, the City Council approved plans and specifications and author- ized the City Clerk to invite bids for the construction of beach access steps on Ocean Street. Bids were opened by the City Clerk at 4:OO p.m. on April 3, 1979. Three bids were received as shown on the attached Bid Summary Sheet. L. R. Hubbard, Jr., of San Diego was the low bidder at $14,864. This bid is a less than the engineer's estimate of $23,000. On January 2, 1979, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 5646 accepting a gift of $8,000 from Naiman, Inc., for the improvement of this beach access. The offer was conditioned upon the City completing this project on or before Flay 15, 1979. be started on or before June 1, 1979. WHEREAS, bids have been received by the City of Carlsbad for the construc. tion of the Ocean Street beach access steps, Contract No. 1058; and WHEREAS, the low bid received for this improvement was submitted by L.R. Hubbard, Jr., in the amount of $14,864; and ' I WHEREAS, funds are available in Account No. 1-145-3049 for this project; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carls- bad as follows: 1. The above recitations are true and correct. 2. The bid of $14,864 by L. R. Hubbard, Jr. for Contract No. 1058 for the construction of the Ocean Street beach access steps 450 feet north. of Pacific Avenue is hereby accepted and the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute a contract therefor.
