Mgr, Sub] ect : -5- APPROVAL OF SPECIFICATIONS FOR MODULAR OFFICE COMPLEX Statement of the Matter At its April 3, 1979 meeting, the City Council approved the use of a modular office complex to provide interim office space to house Purchasing Departments were to be relocated into the modular units. After further analysis, it is staff’s recommendation that the Personnel Department rather than the Purchasing Department be relocated in order to obviate the need to build additional storage facilities for office supplies. The specificationsfor the modular complex have been developed in cooperation with the Building and Personnel Departments. specifications are included as Exhibit A. City departmehts. I m m t SPECIFICATIONS FOR MODULAR OFFICE COMPLEX CITY HALL GENERAL DESCRIPTION The City of Carlsbad is inviting bids for a modular office complex of approximately 1800 sq. ft. to be located on the existing City Hall site at 1200 Elm Avenue, Carlsbad, California 92008. The bid price should include the cost of fabrication, construction, delivery, assembly and installation of the complex on steel piers at the project site. A complete or "turn key" complex, ready for occupancy, should be bid with the following exceptions. The City will provide a level site with utilities to the site (electrical and telephone). The City will provide the access ramp to the complex. SPECIFICATIONS 1. One modular office complex with fully insulated double wall construction with exterior dimensions and interior office layout as shown on the attached drawing (Exhibit A). 2. The complex shall be constructed to meet State of Californii Department of Housing requirements for occupancy type (B-2) 3. The complex shall be constructed to support a floor load of 100 lbs. per sq. ft. 4. Door and windows shall be installed as indicated on Exhibit A. Door shall open out. Entry doors shall be tempered glass aluminum frame and equipped with any required panic hardware. Sliding windows with screens shall be provided. Windows shall be equipped with mini- blinds to be approved by the City Purchasing Agent. 5. Interior walls shall be finished in a wood or simulated wood panelling in a shade or color to be approved by the City Purchasing Agent. Ceiling shall be acoustical tile. Flooring shall be carpet or vinyl as indicated in Exhibit A. Commercial Grade flooring shall be provided. Carpet and vinyl floor samples shall be submitted for approval of the City Purchasing Agent. 6. Electrical outlets shall be provided as indicated on Exhibit A. Fluorescent light fixtures with diffusers shall be installed to provide a light level appropriate for the intended use. A minimum lighting level of 75 ft. candles shall be provided. All electrical and lighting plans shall be approved by the Building Director of the City of Carlsbad. EXHIBIT A 4 0 a 9 Page 2 Specifications - Modular Office Complex 7. The complex shall have a relatively flat roof and the exterior should be finished in wood or wood simulated siding. The exterior color of the complex shall be compatible with existing City Hall buildings. Color samples shall be submitted for approval by the City Purchasing Agent. with skirts fabricated from the same material as the exterior of the complex so as to completely conceal all support piers and utility lines. 8. OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING SPECIFICA- 1.- WHEREXS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, has determined that it is necessary and in the pub1 interest to acquire a modular office complex to house certain City departments; and WHEREAS, specifications for said modular office complex have been prepared and filed in the Office of the City Clerk of the City of Carlsbad and are incorporated herein by this reference: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, as follows: 1. That the above recitations are true and correct. 2. That the above-referenced specifications are hereby approved. 3.
