Hd. C. Atty. ~ C. Mgr. --Y-- The Police Department has requested $48,300 in their 1979-80 Budget for the re- placement of seven patrol vehicles. If we order 1980 venicles through the Staie, they will not be delivered until April or May 1980. By that time, the present vehicles will have in excess of 100,000 miles and the repair costs will be in- creased significantly. In order for us to receive new patrol units when the present vehicles have approX7 imately 70,000 miles on them it was decided to pluce an order through the State for seven 1979 vehicles prior to the April deadline. The order was placed with the understanding that the delivery and payment would be made during fiscal year 1979-80. The cost of the units is $44,582.60, plus a service charge of $504.71, for a total of $45,087.31: At this time funds are available for the purchase of the units in fiscal year 1978- 79. Therefore it is recommended monies be transferred from the unappropr1ate fund balance to the Police Department's Capital Outlay Account to cover the cost of the vehicles. The 1979-80 Police Department Budget will be adjusted to reflect th,~ deletion of the patrol vehicles. Exhibit 1. Resolution No. £lL3_.
