SUBJECT: PLAZA CAMINO REAL - PARKING LOT BIDS
STATEMENT OF THE MATTER
I
On November 5, 1975 the City of Carlsbad, the Carlsbad Parking Lot.
Authority and Plaza Camino Real entered into an agreement for the
expansion of the regional shopping center. Included in the terms
of that agreement was a stipulation that the developer would prepare
plans for a new parking area and advertise for bids in accord with
City procedures. Upon receipt of the bids the developer would let
the construction contract to the lowest bidder after first securing
the City's approval to such letting. The parking lot contract has already been let and is:under construction. The developer has
submitted a request asking Council to approve construction bids
retroactively.
The Engineering Department has reviewed the bid documents aEa prices and is satisfied that City procedures were followed and the bids
were responsive. The contract was awarded to Griffith Company of San Diego who was low bidder.
