SUBJECT: CONSTRUCTION OF LIBRARY MEZZANINE EXTERIOR STAIRWAY
CONTRACT NO. 1062
STATEMENT OF THE MATTER
i
The construction of the exterior stairway to the west side of the library
mezzanine was approved in the 1978-79 Capital Improvement Program. Funds t
in the amount of $10,000 were allocated from the General Fund, Account No.
01-145-3071.
. Requests for proposals for architectural work were sent to architects on
February 16, 1979 and four proposals were received. The low proposal of
3 $1,440 was accepted from Roy Blackford on March 15, 1979. There is
$8,560 available for construction, which has been requested to be con-
tinued for fiscal year 1979-80. The architect's estimate of cost is
$9,000.

Preliminary plans were submitted to the library staff and were reviewed j
by the Library Board of Trustees which recommended approval.

RECOMMENDATION

If City Council concurs, adopt Resolution No, approving plans and
specifications and authorizing the City Clerk to a vertise for bids.

authorizing City Clerk to invite bids for construction of Library

IZING THE CITY CLERK TO INVITE BIDS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION
OF LIBRARY MEZZANIhT EXTERIOR STAIRWAY - CONTP.ACT NO. 1062

5 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad has determined it is
6 necessary and in the public interest to construct an exterior stairway to the
7 library mezzanine; and
8 M EREAS, plans and specifications for the furnishing of all labor, materi-
9 als, tools, equipment, transportation and other expenses necessary or inci-
10 dental for said project, Contract No. 1062, have been prepared and filed in the
11 Engineering Department of the City of Carlsbad and are incorporated by refer-
12 ence herein;
13 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the Casty of Carls-
14 bad, California, as follows:
15 1. The above recitations are true and correct.
16 2. The plans and specifications are hereby approved. ,
17 3. The City Clerk of the City of•Cerlsbad is hereby authorized and
18 directed to proceed to publish, in accordance with iaw, notice to contractors
19 inviting bids for construction of the library mezzanine exterior stairway in
20 accordance with the plans and specifications hereinabove referred to.
21 PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad
22 at a regular meeting held the 7 t h day of August _, 1979, by the following
