CARPET FOR CITY HALL - CONTRACT NO. 1074 SUBJECT:
STATEMENT OF THE MATTER
The City Council approved $14,400 in the 1979-80 budget for carpet in City Hall. On
October 2, 1979, the Council approved plans and specifications and authorized the
City Clerk to invite bids. Sealed bid5 were opened at 4:OO p.m. on October 23, 1979
by the City Clerk.
No bids were received-for alternate "A", foam rubber backing, because the material is
not readily available.

Four bids were received and are shown on the attached bid summary.
Tehe low bid was submitted by Academic Specialties Flooring Sales, El Cajon, in the
amount of $14,035 which is slightly above the engineer's estimate of $13,320 but below
the authorized budgeted amount of $14,400 in Account No. 1-131-3900.
If the contract is awarded, work could commence approximately December 10, 1979 and
be completed within 45 consecutive calendar days (January 24, 1980). Staff feels the
work can be accomplished with a minimum amount of disruption. Contractor will be
permitted to work after normal City Hall working hours, Saturdays, Sundays and holi-
days to expedite completion of work and to reduce disruptions.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD,
CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING BIDS AND AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION
OF CONTRACT NO. 1074 FOR THE REMOVP,L AND INSTALLATION OF
CARPET IN CITY HALL
WHEREAS, bids have been received by the City of Carlsbad for the remc
and installation of carpet in City Hall, Contract No. 1074; and
WHEREAS, the low bid received for this project was submitted by Acade
Specialties Flooring Sales, El Cajon, in the amount of $14,035.00; and
WHEREAS, funds are available in Account No. 1-131-3900 for this projc
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Car
as foIlows:
1. The above recitations are true and correct.
2. The bid of $14,035.00 by Academic Specialties Flooring Sales fo
removal and installation of carpet in City Hall is hereby accepted and the
and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute a contract thedefor.
