STATEMENT OF THE MATTER
Tamarack Avenue, east of El Camino Real was originally designed
to bend slightly to the north to align with a small valley in that area. However, during planning studies for the area to the east, it was determined that the proper alignment of future
Tamarack is slightly southerly to be aligned with the valley leading into the Lake Calavera Hills area.
Future Tamarack has been re-designed to provide this slight southerly bend. This means that the present Tamarack align- ment between Trieste Drive and Sierra Morena requires a street name change.
There are no residences addressed to the present Tamara& at this location.

XECONMENDATION
It is recomnended that the City Council APPROVE SNC-16,
renaming that the portion of Tamarack east of Trieste Drive
to Milano Drive, per Planning Commission Resolution No. 1593.
Council Action:
2-19-80 Council adopted Resolution 6089, changing the flame of Tamarack,
East of El Camino Real to Milano Drive pursuant to Council
Policy Statement No. 20.

WHEREAS, in a memorand.um to the Planning Department, dated
August 23, 1979, the Engineering Department noted a small section
of present Tamarack Avenue, between Trieste and Portalada, which
needed to be renaxed due to the realignment of future Tamarack
Avenue which causes the road to curve in a southeasterly direction
away from the existing road. New Tamarack splits off from old
Tamarack just east of El Camino Real..
WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of the Municipal Code,
the Planning Commission did on the 9th day of January, 1980,
hold a duly noticed public hearing to consider said proposed
street name change; and
WHEREAS, at said public hearing a staff report was submitted
and all persons desiring to speak on the subject request were
heard. At the conclusion of said hearing, after consideration
of all evidence presented, the Planning Commission found the

following facts and reasons to exist:
1. The street name change is necessitated by the realignment of Tamarack Avenue to a more southerly direction, leaving the subject street without a name.
2. The proposed name is not in conflict with any existing names and has been approved by both the Police and Fire Departments.

REQUEST: CHANGE NAME OF EXISTING TAMARACK EAST OF EL CAMINO REAL TO MILAN0 DRIVE
BACKGROUND
There is only a short section of Tamarack that will need to be renamed. The change is necessitated by the realignment of Tamarack which causes the road to curve in a southeasterly
direction away from the existing road. New Tamarack splits
off from old Tamarack just east of El Camino Real. The area that will get a new name extends from Trieste Drive eastward.
At this time, there are no residences or businesses on this section of old Tamarack. However, this street is used as
access to many residences on Trieste Drive and Portalada Drive. According to City Council Policy No. 20, there are no restrictions on street names for this area.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Planning Commission APPROVE SNC- 16, changing the name of Tamarack Avenue from Trieste Drive to Portalada Drive to Milano Drive for the following reasons:
1. The street name change is necessitated by the realignment of Tamarack Avenue to a more southerly direction, leaving the subject street without a name.
2. The proposed name is not in conflict with any existing
names and has been approved by both the Police and Fire
Departments.
