SUBJECT: CARPETING FOR CITY LIBRARY
CONTRACT.NO.1080
STATEMENT OF THE MATTER
The City Council approved $30,000 in the 1979-80 budget for carpet for
the City Library. ?lans and specifications have been approved by the
City Librarian and the City Engineer and are on file in the -Engineering
Department. If the City Council approves the plans and specifications
and authorizes the City Clerk to advertise for bids, work could begin
on June 19th and be completed by July 6th. The work will be scheduled
to allow the Library to remain open during its normal working hours
The contract proposed is divided into two alternatives. Alternative I
calls for bids on the removal and replacement of the carpet only. Alter-
native II asks for bids on the removal and replacement of the carpet to-
gether with the relocation and replacement of all the books, bookshelves
and furniture that must be moved in order to install the carpet.. the
Contractor will be permitted to work after normal working hours, Satur-
days, Sundays and on holidays to exuedite completion of the project.

2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD,
CALIFORNIA, APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND AUTHOR-
IZING THE CITY CLERK TO INVITE BIDS FOR THE CARPET FOR
THE CITY LIBRARY - CONTRACT NO. 1080

5 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad has determined it is
6 necessary and in the public interest to accomplish the carpeting of the City
7 �'
Library;
8 WHEREAS, plans and specifications for the furnishing of all labor, ma-
9 terials, tools, equipment, transportation and other expense necessary or inci-
10 dental for said project, Contract No. 1080, have been prepared and are on file
11 in the Engineering Department and are incorporated by reference herein;
12 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Caris-
13 bad as follows:
14 1. The above recitations are true and correct.
15 2. The plans and specifications as presented are hereby approved,.
16 3. The City Clerk of the City of Carlsbad is hereby authorized and di-
17 rected to proceed to publish, in accordance with law, notice to contractors
18 inviting bids for the carpet for the City Library in accordance with the plans
19 I and specifications hereinabove referred to.
A PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad,
21 California, at a regular meeting held the 18th day of March 1980, by
22 the following vote, to wit:
