Sealed bids were opened at 4 p.m. on March 21, 1980 by the City Clerk. Six bids were received and are shown on the attached bid . summary sheet. The low bid was submitted by McCain Construction Co. of Encinitas in the amount of $53,800 which 'is less than the engineer's estimate of $66,000. Funds contributed by the developer of Carlsbad Tract 73-36 (Woodbine) in the amount of $9,376 are currently budgeted for this project in Account No. 65-616-0519. The remainder of the funding in the amount of $46,724 will be forthcoming from the Sunset Pacific Homebuilders in satisfaction of one of the developmental conditions for Carlsbad Tract 73-8 (Carlsbad Palisades). It is understood that any funds remaining in the account after the completion of the signal will be returned to Sunset Pacific. There was an indication at one time that Lake Calavera Hills Assoc- iates would contribute an amount equal to 15 percent of the cost of traffic signals as a good faith gesture; however, no action has yet been taken on the matter. If this additional funding should.be forth- coming, then a like amount'will be returned to Sunset Pacific Home- builders. E XH I B I TS 1. Letter from Sunset Pacific dated ?larch 11, 1980 2.
