REMOVAL S INSTALLATION OF CARPET
IN CITY LIBRARY - CONTRACT 1080
STATEMENT OF THE MATTER
On March 18, 1980 the City Council approved plans and specifications and authorized
the City Clerk to invite bids. Four sealed bids were opened at 4:00 p.m. on April 23,
1980 and are shown on the attached Bid Summary. The low bid was submitted by Fredricks '
Sales Incorporated of San Diego in the amount of $18,000 for the installation of the
carpet without moving the books (Alternate 1). For Alternate it an amount of $22,032 i
was bid by Fredricks.' This alternative included moving and replace the books end fu ni-
ture. The low bid spread is remarkabl-e and indicates clo$e competition for this contract.
Staff recommends awarding the contract for Alternate II. Funds in the amount of $30,431.28
are available in Account No.•O1-131-3900.

RESOLUTION NO. 6160
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD.
CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING BIDS AND AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION
OF CONTRACT NO. 1080 FOR THE REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION OF
CARPET IN THE CITY LIBRARY
WHEREAS, bids have been received by the City of Carlsbad for the removal
and installation of carpet in the City Library, Contract No. 1080; and
WHEREAS, the low bid received for this project was submitted by Fredricks
Sales, Inc. in the amount of $22,032 for Alternate: 11; and
WHEREAS, funds are available in Account No. 01-131-3900 for this project;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsba
as follows:
1. The above recitations are true and correct.
2. The low bid of $22,032 for Alternate II by Fredricks Sales, Inc. for
the removal and installation of carpet in the City Library, Contract No. 1080,
Is hereby accepted and the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to exe-
cute a contract therefor.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad
at a regular meeting held the 6±b day of May 1980, by the following
vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilmen Packard, Anear, Lewis, Councilwoman Casler and Kulchin
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
