Currently approved rates provide for: .90 for initial drop including first 1/2 mile; -20 each additional 1/6 mile; .20 each 1-1/2 minute waiting time or traffic delay; $ 1 1.45 per mile on mileage driven 5 miles or more outside City limits The only amendment requested by Yellow Cab would increase the initial drop including first 1/2 mile rate from $.90 to $1.20. Council Action; 7-15-80 Council adopted Resolution 6236, allowing a change in the fare Of Ye11ow c 0 @ 639 Thirteenth S San Diego, Califc mzzow cab Company Of San Diego,Inc. 92101 2394 July 1, 1980 Mrs. Aletha Rautenkranc, City Clerk City of Carlsbad 1200 Elm Avenue Carlsbad, Ca. 92008 Dear Mrs. Rautenkranc: Yellow Cab finds it necessary to request an increase in taxicab rates due to ever increasing costs of operation. Taxicab rates have not been increased since April 1978 and over the two-year period operating costs have increased subst ant iall y e We respectfully request the City Council approve and consent to an amendment of the schedule of taxicab fares to provide the following increase: That the initial flag throw rate be increased from 90$ for the first & mile to $1.20 for the first 8 mile. Because of our increased costs, the above rates were recently approved in the City of Oceanside. We believe a similar increase in the City of Carlsbad would be fair for the same basic reason. In addition, it would provide uni- formity in rates which is desirable from the point of view of the public as well as the cab company. Please give me a call if you have any questions.
