SUBJECT: CLOSING OF APPIAN WAY
STATEMENT OF THE MATTER
Appian Way was constructed as a temporary access into the Royal Homes Subdivision east of
El Camino Real. Elm Avenue was just completed thereby providing a fully improved street
into this subdivision; thus t e necessity of maintaining Appian Way as a public street is
eliminated. Staff is presently working on the necessary documentation to actually vacate
Appian Way; however, it is staff's recommendation to close Appian Way now so as to break .

. the habit of vehicles using this temporary road for access into the subdivision.

FISCAL IMPACT
Insignificant fiscal impact. Signing and barricading will be done by City crews. Addi-
tional processing costs will be incurred when Appian Way is vacated.

bad as fol low,:
1. lhe above facts are true and correct.
2. That, pursuant to Section 21101(a) of the California Vehicle Code,
Appian Way shall be closed as of September 8, 1980.
3. 7hat the City Engineer and thc Uti lities/~laintcnanc.c Direct-or are
hereby given the authority to erect signs and barricades as nscessary to close
Appian \Jay.
