CONTRACT NO. 1090
STATEMENT OF THE MATTER
At the request of the Street Maintenance Division, Engineering has prepared plans and specifications for the repair of Paseo del Norte.Street in the Car Country area. The pavement in this area is failing and it was recommended to be included in the street overlay program. Because there appeared a subgrade problem, which could not be corrected by a simple overlay, Engineering recommended that a soils engineer consultant be retained to investigate the problem. The soils engineer attributed the problem to poorly drained material trapping water and causing damage. This problem is usually only resolvable by insuring a properly drained base material. the base material and assure properly drained base material.

1 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING PLAPJS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND AUTHOR- IZING THE CITY CLERK TO INVITE BIDS FOR THE REPARATION OF PASEO DEL NORTE - CONTRACT 1090
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad has determined it is
necessary and in the public interest to repair the failed pavement areas on
Paseo del Norte.
WHEREAS, plans 'and specifications for the furnishing of all labor, mate-
rials, tools, equipment, transportation ana other expenses necessary or inci-
dental for said project, Contract No. 1090, have been prepared and are on file
in the Engineering Department and are incorporated by reference herein;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carls-
bad as follows:.
1. The above recitations are true and correct.

The plans and specifications as -presented are hereby approved.
The City Clerk of the City of Carlsbad is hereby authorized and di-
rected to proceed to publish, in accordance with law, notice to contractors
inviting bids for the reparation of portions of Paseo. Del Norte in accordance
with the plans and specifications hereinabove referred to.
