Northcutt, dba Metro Taxi, has requested an amendment to his Certificate of Convenience and Necessity to allow an increase in his fares. The amendment would change his fares as follows: Current: $1.20 for 1st 1/6 mile $.20 for each 1/6 mile thereafter $9.00 per hour waiting time Request: $1.60 for 1st 1/7 mile $.20 for each 1/7 mile thereafter $10.00 per hour waiting time The Carlsbad Municipal Code currently provides that each company set there own rates, with the requirement that those rates be approved by Council. Exhibits 1. Memorandum from City Clerk, dated, May 22, 1981. 2. Letter from Mr. James R. Northcutt, dated May 20, 1981. 3. Resolution No. £$~&o , amending Resolution No. 6498, to revise the schedule of fares. Fiscal Impact There is no direct fiscal impact upon the City of Carlsbad. Those persons using the taxi service would pay higher rates as a result of the change. APPROVED MEMORANDUM TO: FROM: DATE: SUBJECT: City Council City Clerk May 22, 1981 Taxi Fares Metro Taxi has requested an increase in their fares as follows: Current: $1.20 for 1st 1/6 mile $.20 for each 1/6 mile thereafter $9.00 per hour waiting time Request: $1.60 for 1st 1/7 mile $.20 for each 1/7 mile thereafter $10.00 per hour waiting time The rates for the other taxi companies operating in the City are as follows: Encinitas Yellow Cab Initial Drop $.80, including 1st 1/7 mile $.10 each additional 1/7 mile $4.80 per hour waiting time Yellow Cab Company Initial Drop $.90, including 1st 1/2 mile $.20 each additional 1/6 mile $.20 each minute and one half waiting time or traffic delay $1.45 per mile on mileage driven 5 miles or more outside City limits In accordance with the provisions of the Carlsbad Municipal Code, Mr. Northcutt has submitted his request for the change of fares for Council consideration. 1 RESOLUTION NO. 656° 2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY 3 OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 6498, ISSUING A CERTIFICATE OF CONVENIENCE 4 AND NECESSITY TO METRO TAXI, TO REVISE THE SCHEDULE OF FARES.5 6 Whereas, on April 21, 1981, the City Council, by the adoption of Resolution No. 6498, approved the issuance of a 8 Certificate of Convenience and Necessity to Metro Taxi, to operate taxicab service within the City of Carlsbad; and Whereas, James R. Northcutt, dba Metro Taxi, has requested approval of a revised schedule of fares within the City of A<& Carlsbad;JLo NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the14 City of Carlsbad, as follows: 15 1. That the above recitations are true and correct. 16 2.
