Naming of Citv Recreation Centers
Statement of the Matter
At the May 18, 1981 Parks and Recreation Commission meeting, the Commission reconsidered the naming of the old city hall building at Magee Park. The Commission noted that there is no facility with the name Heritage in the city and this name would fit the building well. The Carlsbad Historical Society has submitted a second request to name the building Heritage Hall.
The Commission recommends either of the following two alternatives (in priority):
1. Heritage Hall
2. Old Town Hall
The Commission unanimously recommends the building at Levante Park be named Levante Community Center.
Fiscal Impact
There is no fiscal impact.

That City Council by minute motion approve the name Levante Community Center and Heritage Hall.

The Carlsbad Historical Society has been notified that the Carlsbad
City Council referred the request for naming the old Catholic Church,
moved into Magee Park, "Heritage Hall" back to the Parks & Recreation
Department
Perhaps we could make the request more specific as follows:
Requesting the naming of this building as "Hebitage Hall", now . located in Magee Park, may be a more specific request to the
Council, This old building has, in truth, a heritage of full
church and civic service and many longtime residents of Carlsbad will appreciate this attention by the acceptance of this name.
Thank you again for your assistance in the presentation of the Carlsbad Historical Society's request to the City Council. -.
